01 / BIM in construction

Bringing BIM into the construction team's workflow

We help construction companies put BIM into practice: select a site process, connect the model to technical preparation, coordination or planning, and test the effect in a focused pilot.

Choose a practical task

Start with what is holding the project back

We choose one use case for the pilot. Its scope depends on the available model, documents and team readiness.

01

Technical preparation and work packages

The team spends time searching for current information

We connect work packages, the model and issue status. We define the source of current information and who checks it. For model-based quantity take-off, we check elements, parameters and classification, then validate the output against agreed rules.

What we check: work package preparation time and data completeness.

02

Coordination and quality

Issues are found late or lost between participants

We configure clash and attribute checks, issue ownership and a clear close-out process.

What we check: review time and the status of issue resolution.

03

4D and planned vs actual

The model, programme and actual progress are disconnected

We prepare the model and programme structure for linking, visualisation and progress monitoring. We assess 4D feasibility using the available data.

What we check: the proportion of linked programme activities and an agreed progress measure.

04

As-built information

Verified information is scattered across systems

We define how actual site information is recorded, checked and handed over, with clear roles and checkpoints.

What we check: data completeness and visibility of handover status.

From task to pilot

One use case. Three stages.

  1. 01 / Assessment and agreement

    Define the task

Participants, data, scope and the baseline measure.

Deliverable: a process map and a success criterion.

Check: the objective and criterion are agreed before configuration.

  2. 02 / Preparation and pilot

    Put it into practice

We prepare the model, CDE, roles and rules, train the pilot group and test the use case on a selected part of the project.

Deliverable: a working workflow and recorded performance data.

Check: work packages, issues or programme links are checked against agreed rules.

  3. 03 / Evaluation

    Make a decision

We compare the measure before and after the pilot and consider team feedback.

Deliverable: an evaluation record and a decision to scale, refine or stop.

Check: it is clear whether the criterion was met and what evidence supports the conclusion.

Deliverables

A BIM workflow tested on a construction project

01 / Process

A clear way of working

Current and target process maps, roles, checkpoints and use case boundaries.

02 / Data

A prepared project team

Data requirements, exchange rules and team training using project materials.

03 / Decision

Before and after

The baseline, pilot results and a decision on further rollout.

We define scope, timing and measures after reviewing the input data. 4D, integrations and automation are agreed separately.
